Science

Our Science curriculum this year includes chemistry of matter, respiration and photosynthesis, the physics of light and the biology of the eye, and the physics of linear motion.

Every year, SCDS has a Engineering Contest, the brainchild of Doc "O", the fourth and fifth grade science teacher. This year our topic was "Rack and Pinion", the system which helps the Fremont Bridge let ships pass underneath. We created our own model of the Fremont Bridge with a ration of 1:10 of the origional, and I worked on part of the design and construction on it for my Independent project. (The requirements were that we would have two independent projects, and one group project.)
