Art

Ms. Phillips, my art teacher since third grade, has gone through numerous projects with my grade. In fifth grade we worked between Art and English, creating Haiku poems and butterflies which look like those done by Japanese artists. The idea was that we would be given black boxes with one screen made of glass, and have 3-d butterflies flying alongside our poem which was created in English class alongside Mr. Pippin.

Last year, we created cardboard boxes, and covered them with white paint. Then, we painted, drew, or wrote on the sides. Above are two pictures of our boxes. The one with the bear is the favorite side of my box. My whole box was based on Morning in the Woods by Strakhov, Ivan Ivanovich, a Russian painter whom I admire. He first caught my eye on the wrapper of my favorite Russian candy.
